GCC-EU Foreign Ministers to discuss regional security following Iranian aggression

An emergency ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Union (EU) will be held on Thursday via video conference to address escalating regional tensions and recent Iranian attacks.

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi announced that the meeting will bring together the foreign ministers of GCC member states and their counterparts from EU countries to discuss the implications of what he described as “brutal Iranian aggression” against Gulf states and the broader developments affecting regional and global security.

Also expected to participate in the talks is Kaja Kallas, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.

AlBudaiwi said the meeting aims to coordinate positions with international partners and condemn attacks that have targeted civilians, infrastructure, and diplomatic facilities in GCC countries, Zawya reports.

He stressed that the GCC hopes the discussions will encourage the international community to fulfil its responsibilities in halting the ongoing conflict and preventing further escalation, warning that the current situation poses serious risks to both regional and global stability.
