Ambassador Sheikha Al-Zain affirms GCC unity in message to Rubio

Kuwait’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah, affirmed on Wednesday that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) stands firm and united against Iranian aggression and violations of its member states’ sovereignty.
This came in a letter sent by Ambassador Al-Zain Al-Sabah to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding Iranian aggression against Kuwait and other Gulf states, a copy of which was received by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
In the letter, the Kuwaiti Ambassador stated, “The State of Kuwait takes note of and expresses its appreciation for the clear and principled statement delivered by the United States of America on February 28, 2016, before the United Nations Security Council, which reaffirmed the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and the security of the region’s allies—a commitment the United States has emphasized its commitment to upholding.”
She added, “The State of Kuwait expresses its agreement with these positions and welcomes the continued commitment of the United States to stand with the State of Kuwait and its partners in the Gulf in defense of the rules-based international order.”
Kuwait stated, “The State of Kuwait also welcomes the outcomes of the Ministerial Meeting of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) held on March 1, 2026, where member states reaffirmed their unity, stressed that their security is indivisible, and strongly condemned any violation of sovereignty or threat to regional stability.
The Ministerial Meeting reflected a shared and firm commitment to collective action, de-escalation, and upholding the principles of international law.”
The statement continued, “In this context, we call for enhanced close coordination with allies and partners to ensure accountability through appropriate diplomatic and economic measures, strengthen collective deterrence, and develop security cooperation aimed at protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring freedom of navigation.”
It added, “We also call for continued active and robust engagement within the framework of the United Nations to address these violations, deter their recurrence, and maintain international peace and security.”
The statement concluded by emphasizing that the Gulf region remains of vital importance to global economic stability and international security, and that the GCC member states reaffirm their unity and steadfastness, stressing that their security is collective and indivisible, and that any violation of the sovereignty of any member state constitutes a threat to the stability of the entire region.
