Kuwaiti art takes center stage as Embassy in Armenia marks National and Liberation Day anniversaries
The Embassy of the State of Kuwait in the Republic of Armenia hosted an official reception on February 5 celebrating the 65th anniversary of Kuwait’s National Day and the 35th anniversary of Kuwait’s Liberation Day.
The event was hosted by His Excellency Mohammed Aloraifan, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Armenia. The event brought together deputy ministers, representatives of diplomatic missions, government officials, cultural figures, and members of the community.
The occasion served as an opportunity to reflect on Kuwait’s history, resilience, and continued progress, while highlighting the country’s cultural achievements alongside its diplomatic relations.
Adding a distinctive cultural dimension to the celebration, the Contemporary Art Platform (CAP) supported the Embassy through the organization and presentation of artworks by prominent Kuwaiti artists.
The curated exhibition featured works by Sami Mohammed, a pioneer of modern art in Kuwait; Jafar Islah, whose artistic practice explores themes of memory and identity; and Thuraya Al-Baqsami, known for her unique visual language that blends heritage with contemporary expression.
The selected artworks offered guests insight into Kuwait’s contemporary art scene, reflecting themes of identity, history, and creative expression. CAP’s contribution focused on coordinating and presenting the artworks as part of the cultural program accompanying the reception.
Through this collaboration, the Embassy and CAP underscored Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties through cultural dialogue and artistic exchange, reinforcing the role of art as a bridge between nations.
Contemporary Art Platform reaffirmed its mission to promote Kuwaiti artists internationally and support initiatives that foster mutual understanding across cultures.
CAP also expressed its appreciation to the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Armenia for the collaboration and acknowledged Jazeera Airways for providing logistical support.
The event concluded in a warm and celebratory atmosphere, reflecting the unity, heritage, and forward-looking vision of the State of Kuwait.
