US President Donald Trump expressed his appreciation to Kuwait for its financial contribution to the Gaza relief package, which exceeded $7 billion collectively from participating countries.
Speaking during the first meeting of the Peace Council held at the Trump Institute of Peace in Washington, Trump praised several nations — including Kuwait — for supporting humanitarian efforts aimed at stabilizing Gaza.
Trump stated that Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Kuwait had jointly contributed more than $7 billion to the relief initiative, describing the support as “fantastic” and thanking participating countries, reports Al-Rai daily.
He also announced that the United States would allocate $10 billion to the Peace Council, noting that the amount remains small compared to the overall cost of the war.
In addition, FIFA is expected to help raise $75 million for development projects in Gaza, including football stadiums and sports initiatives.
Trump highlighted international participation in the initiative, revealing that Norway would host a future Peace Council event, while Albania, Kosovo, and Kazakhstan would contribute military and police personnel to support stability efforts.
Egypt and Jordan, he added, are providing training and operational assistance to Palestinian police forces.
The US president stressed that cooperation with the United Nations would remain essential in the next phase, emphasizing the organization’s importance and potential while calling for stronger financial and operational support.
Washington hosted the Peace Council meeting with participation from 20 countries, including Kuwait, represented by Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
During the session, the Kuwaiti foreign minister announced that Kuwait would contribute $1 billion over the coming years to support the council’s efforts, reaffirming Kuwait’s commitment to easing humanitarian suffering and promoting security and stability in Gaza.
