Saudi Supreme Court calls on Muslims to spot Ramadan Crescent on Tuesday

  • If the crescent is sighted on Tuesday night, Ramadan will begin on Wednesday. If not, the month of Sha’ban will complete 30 days, and Ramadan will start on Thursday.

The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has urged all Muslims across the Kingdom to look for the crescent moon of Ramadan on Tuesday evening, signaling the potential start of the holy month.

The court requested that anyone who sees the crescent — whether with the naked eye or using binoculars — report it to the nearest court and register their testimony. Those needing assistance can contact the nearest center to help reach the court, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Authorities encourage those capable of sighting the crescent to join regional committees formed for this purpose, ensuring the announcement benefits all Muslims.

Tuesday corresponds to Sha’ban 29 in the Islamic calendar. If the crescent is sighted on Tuesday night, Ramadan will begin on Wednesday. If not, the month of Sha’ban will complete 30 days, and Ramadan will start on Thursday.
