The third edition of the Kuwait Sports Day Festival kicked off today morning, attracting thousands of citizens and residents eager to take part in walking, cycling, and other sporting activities.
The event, attended by Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, reflected Kuwait’s growing commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging community participation through sports and physical activity.
Patriotic national songs filled the air as participants of all ages gathered early, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm, unity, and national pride.

A distinctive feature of this year’s festival was the strong presence of the Diplomatic Corps in Kuwait. The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Dr. Zubidullo Zubidzoda, expressed his pride in the active engagement of accredited diplomatic missions.
The participation of the Diplomatic Corps went beyond protocol attendance, reflecting a shared belief in the importance of sport as a way of life and a commitment to supporting national initiatives that promote public health and quality of life, he said in a press statement.

Ambassador Zubidzoda highlighted the festival’s inclusive spirit, describing it as a vibrant human mosaic bringing together citizens and expatriates alike, in a scene that embodies Kuwait’s values of coexistence and civilizational openness.
He noted that sport serves as a universal human language, dissolving barriers, building bridges of communication, and strengthening people-to-people diplomacy alongside official relations.

The festival featured a wide array of sporting and recreational activities designed to encourage fitness, wellbeing, and social engagement. Families, youth groups, and sports enthusiasts participated side by side, highlighting the event’s inclusive spirit.
Comprehensive security and health measures were implemented, including police patrols, ambulances, medical teams, and temporary road closures to ensure a safe environment for all participants.

Linking the festival to Kuwait’s national festive season, Ambassador Zubidzoda emphasized that aligning community sports with the celebrations of Independence Day and Liberation Day adds a profound national and humanitarian dimension.
He extended his congratulations and best wishes to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and the Kuwaiti people, praying for the continued security, progress, and prosperity of the State of Kuwait.
He concluded by reaffirming the Diplomatic Corps’ commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance human well-being and promote international cooperation. The Kuwait Sports Day Festival thus continues to serve as a key platform for promoting sports culture, raising awareness about physical activity, and strengthening community bonds through shared, healthy, and positive experiences.
