‘Commerce’ updates ration list; adds eight New Food Items slashes nine for 2026
Frozen Zubeidi and poultry added, total products drop slightly to 108

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has updated the list of subsidized and discounted food items for 2026, introducing eight new items and removing nine others.
The changes bring the total number of items available through the ration card system to 108, down slightly from 110 items in 2025.
According to the newly issued list, frozen Zubeidi fish has been added in two types and sizes ranging between 200 and 300 grams, offered at a reduced price of 4.985 dinars, while dried shrimps and grouper fillet have been removed from the list.
The update also includes the addition of five poultry products, with prices ranging between 555 and 870 fils, while seven poultry items have been discounted discontinued, Al-Rai daily reports.
Additionally, two types of milk designated for children have added, while the approval of 61 milk products for children and adults remains unchanged.
The revised list shows 89 items are fully subsidized, covering eight main categories — rice, lentils, sugar, vegetable oil, milk powder, baby milk, chicken and tomato paste. Meanwhile, 19 items are offered at reduced (discounted) prices, spread across four categories — whole milk, fish, cornflakes and shrimp.
Within the discounted section, the ration system now provides 29 types of frozen poultry and five types of fish, including two varieties of salmon fillet, in addition to frozen and peeled shrimp and other fish fillets.
The update reflects the Ministry’s periodic review of ration supplies to balance consumer needs with product availability and pricing.
