Meth, hashish and Captagon seized in nation-wide security crackdown, 16 arrested

The Ministry of Interior announced Saturday that continued security efforts by the Directory-General for Drug Control, have led to a series of operations targeting drug dealers and users in various areas of the country.
In a statement, the ministry said specialized security teams carried out multiple raids that resulted in the arrest of 16 suspects of different nationalities found in possession of narcotic substances, as well as equipment used in the preparation and distribution of drugs.
Authorities seized 880 grams of methamphetamine, 745 grams of hashish in addition to three pieces of hashish, 151 grams of a chemical substance, 40 milliliters of chemical oil, three grams of heroin, and 5,000 Captagon tablets. A number of tools used for weighing narcotics were also confiscated, reports Al-Rai daily.
The ministry stated that legal procedures have been taken against the suspects, who were referred along with the seized materials to the competent authorities for further action in accordance with the law.
The authorities affirmed that intensive security campaigns will continue across all regions, stressing zero tolerance toward anyone involved in trafficking, promoting or using narcotic substances.
The ministry also called on the public to cooperate with security authorities and report any information that could help combat drugs, underscoring the importance of community participation in preserving public safety.
