Kuwait announces flexible working hours for government employees during Ramadan

The Civil Service Bureau announced today that official working hours for government agencies during the holy month of Ramadan will follow a flexible schedule, with a total of four and a half hours per day for employees.
Under the new arrangement, morning working hours will be flexible, with employees able to start their day anytime between 8:30 am and 10:30 am, while still completing their required four-and-a-half hours of work. Government agencies may also set specific start and end times that best suit their operational needs, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The Bureau emphasized that all agencies must continue to use fingerprint verification for attendance, in accordance with existing Civil Service Council rules.
For the evening working period, officials will also follow the four-and-a-half-hour schedule, which includes a 15-minute grace period at the start of the shift and an additional 15-minute grace period at the end for female employees. It was also stressed that evening work must not begin before 6:45 pm during Ramadan.
This schedule is based on earlier decision No. (1) of 2024, which sets out the rules and conditions for flexible working hours during Ramadan each year.
