Final winter phase kicks off Tuesday as cold to persist for 26 days

Kuwait enters last winter season before spring transition -- Al-Ujairi

The Al-Ujairi Scientific Center announced that the final phase of winter, known locally as the Al-Aqrab (Scorpion) season, will begin next Tuesday and continue for 26 days, with cold weather still prevailing during this period.

The center explained that the Al-Aqrab season is the third and last segment of winter in Kuwait and is divided into three phases — the Scorpion of Poison, the Scorpion of Blood, and the Scorpion of Fat. It represents the transitional period from winter to spring.

The first phase, known as the Scorpion of Poison, begins on February 10 and is typically marked by relatively cold conditions, especially in open and desert areas.

Weather during the Scorpions season is known for its fluctuations between cold spells and milder temperatures. It is considered a transitional stage in which the atmosphere gradually shifts from winter chill toward moderate spring weather, effectively signaling the end of the winter season.
