A delegation from the US Department of Agriculture alongside a group of food exporters visiting Kuwait this week marked a new milestone in bilateral trade cooperation, following their participation in Gulfood 2026, the world’s largest annual food and beverage trade show held in Dubai. The visit brought together American exporters, Kuwaiti importers, restaurateurs, and government representatives, highlighting the growing momentum in U.S.–Kuwait food and agriculture partnerships.

The delegation met with the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, underscoring the importance of institutional collaboration in expanding commercial ties. The program also included a curated presentation of U.S. food products, offering attendees a firsthand look at the quality, innovation, and diversity that characterize American agricultural exports.

Speaking at the event, Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) Steve Butler described the evening as a first-of-its-kind initiative. “For the first time, we are bringing a taste of Gulfood to Kuwait,” he said, noting that Kuwait’s vibrant and sophisticated food scene aligns naturally with the high standards of U.S. food exporters. He emphasized that the gathering reflected not only commercial opportunity, but also the strength of the broader U.S.–Kuwait relationship.

CDA Butler expressed appreciation to the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service for organizing the visit and facilitating dialogue between U.S. exporters and Kuwaiti stakeholders. He highlighted Kuwait as a valuable and important partner for American food producers, adding that such engagements create space to exchange ideas, explore partnerships, and address regulatory and logistical considerations that can further strengthen bilateral trade.

“These connections are built on decades of partnership, trust, and mutual respect,” he said, pointing to expanding commercial ties and people-to-people exchanges as key pillars of future cooperation between the two countries.

The visit was closely linked to Gulfood’s global Partnerships Program, which brings together trade bodies, chambers, associations, and policy institutions with the shared goal of building a more connected, innovative, and resilient global food ecosystem. Through this platform, partners play an active role in shaping industry dialogue, driving collaboration, and empowering businesses across both emerging and established markets.

Gulfood took place from the 26–30 January 2026, in Dubai World Trade Centre and Expo City Dubai for the first time, uniting more than 6,500 exhibitors from over 130 countries. Covering every stage of the food system, from production to distribution and innovation, the event stands at the center of the rapidly evolving global food industry.

Kuwait’s reputation for culinary excellence, openness to international flavors, and strong import market position it as a natural partner in this expanding global food network. The U.S. delegation’s visit reinforced the shared potential for a fruitful, long-term partnership, one that combines Kuwait’s dynamic food culture with the United States’ high-quality, reliable, and innovative food offerings.

As both countries look ahead, initiatives like this visit serve as a reminder that food is not only a trade commodity, but also a powerful connector — strengthening economic ties, cultural exchange, and mutual growth.
