Martyr’s Park to house UAE memorial, symbolizing historic Kuwaiti-Emirati ties
. . . Symbol of Brotherhood

The UAE government announced plans to establish a memorial dedicated to the people of Kuwait, to be erected in Martyr’s Park in Kuwait City, as part of ongoing efforts to celebrate the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the two nations.
According to the Emirates News Agency, the initiative comes under the directives of the UAE leadership to mark the strong bilateral relations with Kuwait through a week-long celebration across all emirates under the slogan “UAE and Kuwait… Brothers Forever,” which began on Thursday.
The memorial symbolizes loyalty and solidarity with Kuwait and is intended to serve as a lasting cultural landmark, highlighting the historic and enduring bonds between the Emirati and Kuwaiti peoples. It reflects the strength of ties that unite the two countries and will stand as a testament for future generations to the shared vision and unity of both nations, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Officials emphasized that the initiative enhances popular and institutional cooperation, strengthens bilateral engagement, and expands collaboration across political, economic, educational, cultural, and media spheres, reinforcing the commitment of both countries to stability, development, and prosperity.
The UAE-Kuwait relationship is historically significant, dating back to Kuwait’s support for the UAE federation in 1971. Kuwait was among the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with the UAE, opening embassies in Abu Dhabi and Kuwait City in 1972.
The memorial, designed by Emirati architect Omar Al Gurg, is set to combine innovative architectural design with Arab heritage. Al Gurg, a Queen’s University Belfast graduate, is known for blending tradition with modern aesthetics and has participated in prominent exhibitions including Dubai Design Week.
Martyr’s Park was selected for the memorial because of its cultural prominence and symbolic significance, honoring Kuwait’s martyrs while serving as a hub for cultural and artistic activities. The park already houses the Martyr Monument and the Constitution Monument, as well as museums and performance spaces as part of the Kuwait National Cultural District.
The new monument will be positioned to be visible both inside and outside the park, creating an accessible cultural landmark that celebrates the unity, heritage, and enduring partnership between Kuwait and the UAE.
