Over 30,000 traffic fines issued, 101 arrested and 363 vehicles impounded

. . . as intensive traffic and security campaigns step up road safety in all governorates

In a continued drive to enforce traffic regulations and enhance road safety, the Ministry of Interior carried out intensive field campaigns across the country from the 18th to the 25th of this month. The operations were led by the General Directorate of Traffic in cooperation with the General Directorate of Emergency Police, targeting violators and wanted individuals while ensuring smooth traffic flow.

Authorities said the campaigns were conducted across various governorates and included responding to reports and accidents, apprehending offenders, and taking legal action without leniency.

The joint operations resulted in the issuance of 30,308 traffic citations, while 1,232 traffic accidents were handled during the period. Security forces also apprehended 101 violators and wanted individuals and impounded 363 vehicles and motorcycles.

Traffic Directorate Operations

Campaigns by the General Directorate of Traffic led to:

  • 27,642 traffic violations recorded
  • 91 individuals arrested for expired residency permits
  • 32 vehicles and 38 motorcycles impounded
  • 9 individuals arrested without identification
  • 65 wanted persons apprehended (absconding or wanted on arrest warrants)
  • 41 vehicles seized at the request of judicial authorities
  • 2,350 traffic reports handled
  • Response to 230 collisions involving injuries
  • 876 traffic accidents addressed
  • Emergency Police Operations

Campaigns conducted by the General Directorate of Emergency Police resulted in:

  • 35 wanted individuals apprehended
  • 2,666 traffic violations issued
  • 3 vehicles impounded for traffic offenses
  • 10 individuals arrested without official identification
  • 3 vehicles seized on judicial orders
  • Assistance provided in 402 cases
  • 11 fights dispersed and parties brought under control
  • Response to 123 traffic accidents
  • Handling of 3 pedestrian accidents

Ongoing Enforcement

A security source affirmed that the Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector will continue intensive traffic and security campaigns on all roads, stressing strict enforcement of the law, raising traffic discipline, and protecting road users. The goal, officials said, is to strengthen community security and create a safer traffic environment across the country.
