GTD issues 27,642 traffic citations, impounds 322 vehicles in one week

The General Traffic Department, announced that 27,642 traffic violations were issued and 322 vehicles were impounded during field campaigns carried out across the country between January 19 and 25.
In a statement, the GTD said special teams conducted intensive operations during the period, leading to the seizure of 38 motorcycles (for violating traffic laws) and 41 vehicles wanted by the judiciary.
The authorities also handled 2,350 various traffic reports, in addition to 230 accidents involving collisions and injuries, and 876 collision-only incidents reports Al-Rai daily.
The campaigns further resulted in the arrest of 91 violators of the residency law, the referral of 16 juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecution for driving without license, and sending 45 persons to precautionary detention.
The security personnel also arrested nine individuals for not carrying identification papers, and 65 wanted persons in security-related cases, including those on whom the sponsors had filed absconding reports or those against whom arrest warrants had been issued.
The ministry affirmed that intensive traffic campaigns will continue across all regions to improve road safety and strengthen compliance with traffic regulations, contributing to the protection of motorists and pedestrians and ensuring a safer traffic environment.
It stressed that all necessary legal measures will be taken against violators to enforce traffic discipline and safeguard the lives of road users.
