Kuwait moves to establish economic courts to strengthen investment environment
. . . boost judicial efficiency and business confidence and accelerate resolution of financial dispute

Kuwait is taking steps to strengthen its investment environment through the establishment of specialized economic courts, aimed at accelerating the resolution of financial and commercial disputes and enhancing confidence in the judicial system.
The move is seen as a key pillar for ensuring stability and improving the attractiveness of the business landscape in the country, reports Al-Rai daily.

Counselor Bader Al-Musaed, First Attorney General and Director of the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies, highlighted the significance of economic courts following a ministerial decision by Counselor Nasser Al-Sumait, Minister of Justice, to form a committee tasked with drafting a decree-law for their establishment.
The initiative reflects a growing institutional recognition of the need for a specialized judiciary capable of addressing the unique nature of financial and economic matters, keeping pace with the rapid development of Kuwait’s economy.

During a workshop organized by the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies in cooperation with the Kuwait Fund for Development and the International Development Law Organization, titled “Economic Courts: The Role of the Judiciary in Enhancing the Investment Environment and Developing Economic Justice,” Al-Musaed emphasized the role of the courts in promoting efficiency, transparency, and investor confidence, in alignment with Kuwait’s Vision 2035.
Waleed Al-Bahr, Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Development, added that the workshop supports the development of economic justice and strengthens judicial administration in financial and commercial fields, enabling disputes to be resolved in the fastest and most effective manner.
The establishment of economic courts is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing Kuwait’s competitiveness, ensuring a more predictable business environment, and fostering sustainable economic growth through efficient judicial mechanisms.
