IMA Kuwait hosts Al-Isra Wal-Mi’raj program to promote spiritual and moral awareness

The Indian Muslim Association (IMA) Kuwait organized a Jalsa to commemorate Al-Isra Wal-Mi’raj on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Masjid Muzaini, Salmiya, Kuwait, drawing an audience of over 500 attendees and showcasing strong community engagement and spiritual enthusiasm.
The event opened with remarks by Guest Speaker Professor Mohammad Saleem Engineer, who emphasized that the Muslim Ummah has been designated as “Khair-e-Ummah” (the Best of Nations), not for privilege, but to serve humanity.
“The responsibility of this Ummah is to work for the welfare of all people — relieving societal burdens, guiding mankind toward justice, and liberating humanity from all forms of exploitation and servitude,” he stated.

Held under the supervision of Kuwait’s Foreign Relations Department, the program aimed to highlight the spiritual, moral, and civilizational lessons of Isra Wal-Mi’raj while addressing contemporary challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah. The ceremony began with a recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Master Abdul Rafe, followed by its Urdu translation, setting a reflective and spiritually uplifting tone.
Professor Saleem Engineer, National General Secretary of the Forum for Democracy and Communal Amity (FDCA) and visiting scholar from India, highlighted that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was sent as “Rahmatul-lil-Aalameen” (Mercy to All Worlds).

He emphasized that Islam’s message is universal, intended for all humanity rather than any single group or nation. He further stressed that justice is the foundation of lasting peace and that Islam provides a comprehensive framework for organizing life both individually and collectively.
Shaikh Waleed Umri, the General Secretary of IMA Kuwait & a Renowned Khateeb in Kuwait delivered his speech on the topic of ‘Isra wal Mi‘raj: Guidance for Today’s Challenges’. In his inspiring speech, Shaikh presented Isra wal Mi’raj not merely as a miraculous historical event, but as a Divine roadmap for the revival and progress of the Ummah.

He explained that this journey of Isra wal Mi’raj occurred during one of the most difficult phases of the Prophet Muhammad’s life, conveying a powerful message of Hope, Perseverance and complete reliance on Allah, especially during times of hardship.
Concluding his address, Professor Saleem urged Muslims to convey Islam’s message through their character and conduct, embodying the Prophetic model in personal, family, and professional life.

Concluding the program, IMA President Mr. Mohammed Umar expressed gratitude to the speakers, organizers, volunteers, and attendees for making the event meaningful and successful. He reaffirmed IMA Kuwait’s commitment to programs that foster spiritual awareness, moral responsibility, and community development.
The program ended with the distribution of food packets to attendees, reflecting the spirit of fellowship, charity, and community service.
