Kuwait joins International Peace Council, reaffirms commitment to regional stability

Kuwait has officially announced its participation in the Peace Council, underscoring its enduring commitment to promoting international peace and stability.
The announcement follows an invitation extended to His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, by U.S. President Donald Trump.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the procedures will be completed in accordance with Kuwait’s established constitutional and legal frameworks, with the relevant documents to be duly signed through official channels.
The ministry also expressed Kuwait’s appreciation for the peace initiatives led by President Trump and the international efforts aimed at resolving regional and global conflicts, reports Al-Rai daily.
The ministry reiterated Kuwait’s full support for the objectives and responsibilities of the Peace Council, describing it as a transitional mechanism operating within a comprehensive international framework to end the conflict in Gaza.
This framework is based on United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2803, which calls for a permanent ceasefire, the facilitation of reconstruction efforts, and the advancement of a just and lasting peace.
Kuwait emphasized that these efforts align with international law and aim to uphold the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, including the establishment of an independent state. The ministry stressed that achieving these goals is essential to ensuring security, stability, and prosperity for the region and its peoples.
Through this accession, Kuwait reaffirmed its longstanding diplomatic approach rooted in dialogue, mediation, and constructive engagement, underscoring its active role in supporting peace initiatives at both the regional and international levels.
