Kuwait braces for cold wave from Wednesday through Friday
Meteorology says frost likely in desert areas following sharp drop in temperatures

The Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Darrar Al-Ali, said on Monday that weather maps and numerical forecast models indicate Kuwait will be affected by an extension of a high-pressure system accompanied by a cold to very cold air mass, starting next Wednesday and continuing until Friday.
Al-Ali explained that daytime conditions during this period are expected to be cold to cool, while temperatures at night will drop to cold and very cold levels. He added that weather conditions today and tomorrow, Tuesday, will remain mild during the day and cold at night.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Ali noted that northwesterly winds are expected today and Tuesday, blowing at light to moderate speeds and becoming active at times. These winds may stir up dust, particularly in open areas, and lead to higher sea waves.
He said maximum temperatures today and tomorrow will range between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are expected to range between 7 and 10 degrees Celsius, with a possibility of fog forming in some coastal areas during the night.
From Wednesday through early Friday, Al-Ali said active northwesterly winds will persist, increasing the sensation of cold as temperatures decline noticeably.
During this period, maximum temperatures are forecast to range between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures will drop to between 2 and 5 degrees Celsius. In desert areas, temperatures are expected to fall below zero, with a chance of frost forming in agricultural and desert regions.
