‘Sinbad the Sailor’ to be presented as part of National Holidays

In honor of National Holidays, Burgan Bank has announced its plans to rekindle nostalgia by presenting a revamped rendition of the classic, ‘Sinbad the Sailor’.

This timeless play has evolved into a cultural icon in Kuwait, embodying deep social significance and national pride across generations. The inaugural performance of this cherished theatrical production for children took place in 1978, featuring a stellar cast including esteemed artists Abdul Rahman Al-Aql, Esteghlal Ahmed, Khaled Al-Obaid, Hoda Hussein, Raja Muhammad, Muhammad Al-Sari’i, and Muhammad Al-Misbah, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Scheduled to run from February 13 to 20, 2024, at the Dasma Theater, which boasts a seating capacity of up to 500 attendees per show, this initiative underscores Burgan Bank’s commitment to its comprehensive social responsibility strategy. Through this endeavor, the bank aims to preserve Kuwait’s rich cultural heritage while presenting it in an engaging and accessible manner to diverse segments of society.

Commenting on this significant theatrical undertaking, Hessa Al-Najada, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility at Burgan Bank, emphasized the enduring values and principles ingrained in Kuwaiti society.

She expressed delight in reviving this iconic production in collaboration with Trend Production Company, highlighting its role in inspiring multiple generations and imparting invaluable life lessons.

Al-Najada underscored Burgan Bank’s dedication to nurturing Kuwaiti youth talent and empowering them to showcase their creativity. She emphasized the bank’s belief in their potential to contribute to the success of such projects and present them in innovative ways, aligning with its holistic social responsibility program.

Director Badr Al-Shuaibi echoed similar sentiments, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with Burgan Bank once again following the success of their previous endeavor, “Abra Kadabra.” He noted the play’s unique blend of entertainment and educational elements, which resonated with children and youth alike. With “Sinbad the Sailor,” Al-Shuaibi aims to evoke fond memories of Kuwait’s cultural heritage while presenting it through a fresh lens to captivate audiences anew.
