Drop in temperatures brings dusty winds by day and frost risk overnight

Cool days and chilly nights ahead as northwestern winds sweep across Kuwait

The Meteorology Department has forecast a noticeable drop in temperatures today, with conditions ranging from cool to cold across most parts of the country, accompanied by moderate to occasionally strong northwesterly winds.

According to the department, wind speeds are expected to range between 20 and 55 kilometers per hour during the daytime, raising dust in open areas and reducing visibility at times. The weather will also feature scattered cloud cover, particularly over northern and coastal regions, reports Al-Qabas daily.

As night falls, conditions are forecast to become colder, with temperatures dropping to cold or very cold levels. Winds will initially remain northwesterly before gradually shifting to variable directions, blowing at light to moderate speeds. In coastal areas, however, winds may occasionally become active, reaching speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour.

The department warned of a possibility of frost formation overnight, particularly in agricultural zones and desert areas, urging caution for farmers and those traveling in open terrain.

Temperature readings at Kuwait International Airport are expected to reach a high of 18 degrees Celsius during the day, while nighttime lows may fall to around 10 degrees.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against cold weather conditions, dust-related visibility issues, and potential frost during the late night and early morning hours.
