Dasman Diabetes Institute, a leading center under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Zain Kuwait to strengthen cooperation in innovation, science, and technology related to diabetes care. The agreement supports national efforts to improve quality of life and reduce health risks by leveraging advanced digital solutions.
The memorandum was signed by Acting Director General Dr. Faisal Al-Rifai and Zain Kuwait CEO Nawaf Al-Gharaballi. Both sides emphasized that the partnership aims to drive healthcare innovation through research initiatives and technological projects based on scientific data and analysis, in collaboration with international partners such as Huawei and Harvard University.
Dr. Al-Rifai explained that the agreement includes launching a pilot project to develop digital solutions for diabetic patients. The project will provide Huawei smart devices capable of monitoring vital signs and supporting preventive care, along with a secure digital platform for managing and analyzing patient data under the institute’s supervision and with strict privacy standards.
The cooperation will also enhance joint scientific research between Dasman Diabetes Institute, Kuwait University, and a Harvard University laboratory, supported technologically by Zain.
Nawaf Al-Gharaballi highlighted that the partnership reflects Zain’s commitment to transforming technology into meaningful social impact. By combining Zain’s digital capabilities with Dasman’s expertise in healthcare research, the collaboration aims to promote healthier lifestyles, raise awareness about preventive care, and enable more connected and intelligent health experiences.
