Oncology conference showcases Kuwait’s rising medical standards

. . . which now enable patients to receive highly specialized, precise, and privacy-focused medical care that enhances treatment outcomes

The Ministry of Health said Saturday that Kuwait has achieved a significant qualitative leap in its healthcare system in recent years, driven by the adoption of advanced diagnostic methods and state-of-the-art treatment technologies.

These developments, the Ministry added, now enable patients to receive highly specialized, precise, and privacy-focused medical care that enhances treatment outcomes.

The remarks were delivered by Assistant Undersecretary for Health Care Affairs, Dr. Nadia Jumaa, during the opening of the First Kuwaiti Oncology Association Conference on the latest advancements in cancer science.

She delivered the speech on behalf of Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, in the presence of leading oncologists and healthcare experts from around the world, reports Al-Rai daily.

Dr. Jumaa affirmed that the Ministry continues to advance the medical sector in accordance with approved international protocols, translating this vision into reality through the comprehensive development of the Kuwait Cancer Control Center (KCCC).

The objective, she said, is to create a fully integrated medical environment that delivers the highest standards of cancer care.

She highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to establishing a new, state-of-the-art specialized cancer center, set to open soon.

The facility will be equipped with cutting-edge systems, technologies, and devices, all operating under internationally recognized quality standards to ensure accurate diagnoses and timely treatment interventions.
During the conference, Dr. Jumaa also announced the release of the new medical reference text, “Recommendations and Guidelines for Radiotherapy and Tumors 2025,” approved by the Ministry of Health and the Council of Radiology and Radiotherapy Departments.

The publication aims to unify clinical procedures and raise the quality of oncology services in line with the latest global protocols.

Conference Chairman Dr. Sadiq Abu Zallouf described the event as a significant scientific milestone, providing a valuable platform for exchanging knowledge and discussing emerging developments in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

He praised Kuwait’s continued support for healthcare innovation, scientific research, and pioneering medical initiatives, noting the strong international participation as a testament to global cooperation in fighting the disease.

For her part, Association President Dr. Maryam Al-Otaibi emphasized the importance of continued medical education, regional collaboration, and professional exchange among specialists.

She stressed that combating cancer is a collective responsibility that brings together scientific research, clinical expertise, and multidisciplinary cooperation to ensure patients receive comprehensive, safe, and effective care.

Dr. Al-Otaibi commended Kuwait’s extensive efforts to enhance oncology services, strengthen awareness and early detection programs, and support scientific initiatives that elevate the quality of treatment in line with global guidelines.

She noted the imminent opening of the new cancer center, describing it as “a world-class landmark and a transformative step toward improving comprehensive cancer care.”

She added that the conference will become an annual scientific event, gathering leading oncologists from Kuwait and across the world to advance the fight against cancer.
