Kuwait to witness 2025’s final supermoon tonight

. . . will appear 10 percent larger than usual for December viewing

Kuwait is set to witness the last supermoon of 2025, today evening, with the Kuwaiti Astronomical Society advising that the optimal viewing time is immediately after sunset. Observing the moon later in the evening will make it appear smaller.

Adel Al-Saadoun, head of the Society, suggested that photographers capture the moon alongside trees or buildings to enhance its visual impact.

He noted that the supermoon will appear larger in northern countries, particularly across Europe.

Known as the “Cold Moon” due to its coincidence with December’s cold weather in the northern hemisphere, this supermoon will appear roughly 10 percent larger than a typical full moon. The first full moon of 2026 is expected on January 3.

The phenomenon offers both astronomy enthusiasts and photographers a rare opportunity to enjoy and document one of nature’s most striking celestial events of the year.
