Onathanima 2025 begins in grand style, celebrates heritage, community spirit, and excellence

Onathanima 2025, organized under the auspices of Thanima Kuwait, commenced in grand fashion with a vibrant traditional procession and chendamelam, highlighting the richness of Kerala’s heritage and the unity of the community.

The ceremony opened with a welcome address by Joint Convener Dominic Antony, followed by Onathanima Convener Binil Skaria, who presided over the event.

The program was officially inaugurated by Varghese, while Dr. Dheeraj Bhardwaj lit the bhadradeepam (traditional lamp). Thanima General Convener Jojimon Thomas delivered the introductory remarks, and NRI Tug of War Federation President Babuji Bathery spoke about Thanima’s mission and core values.

Dr. Bhardwaj also presented an engaging talk on the rising significance of Artificial Intelligence and its impact on future generations. Felicitations were offered by Thanima Treasurer Rana Varghese, Joint Convener Vijesh Velayudhan, Women’s Section Convener Usha Dilip, and Office Secretary Jinu K. Abraham.

The event brought together distinguished personalities from various business, social, and cultural spheres. Thanima honored businessman and noted social worker Dr. K. Abdullah Hamza with a special award for his outstanding contributions to community welfare. MA Haither Group Managing Director Dr. S. M. Haither Ali received Thanima’s award for social commitment.

The Thanima Directory 2025 was released by Joel Jacob, Executive Administrator of United Indian Schools. Souvenir Convener Vijeesh Velayudhan and Joint Convener Kumar Thrithala presented the first copy to Musthafa Kari.

As part of the flag-off ceremony for the Tug of War Championship, Sports Convener Jins Mathew handed over the flag to Sayeed Arif.
New members joining the Thanima family were warmly welcomed by Mubarack Kambrath. The 19th Tug of War Championship witnessed intense and spirited competitions, while the 13th Pearl of the School Awards were also presented.

The prayer song was rendered by Joanna Mariam Shaji and Malavika Vijeesh. Stage programs were coordinated by Pournami Sangeeth and Darshan Dileep, while Program Convener Binoy and Procession Convener Ashraf Choroot skillfully anchored the event.
