In a decisive move to strengthen the fight against human trafficking and migrant smuggling, the Public Prosecution has formed a special team dedicated to these crimes, a development hailed as a vital step in enhancing national coordination and enforcement.
Awatif Al-Sanad, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice and Vice-Chair of the National Standing Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants, told KUNA that the new team aligns with Kuwait’s national strategy to prevent human trafficking and migrant smuggling.
She added that the initiative strengthens cooperation among relevant authorities and bolsters the state’s efforts to protect vulnerable victims.
Al-Sanad called for the expansion of specialized working groups within the concerned authorities, underscoring the importance of building capacity, sharing expertise, and ensuring a unified approach to tackling human trafficking at all levels.
The decision, issued Sunday by Attorney General Counselor Saad Al-Safaran, reflects Kuwait’s ongoing commitment to both international and regional standards in combating these heinous crimes.
It is expected to enhance the effectiveness of investigations, streamline inter-agency collaboration, and reinforce the protection of those affected by trafficking and smuggling networks.
