Kuwait, UAE sign MoU to boost cooperation in land transport, road asset development

Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in land transport and road asset management, as approved by Decree No. 216 of 2025.
The agreement reflects the two countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations based on fairness, mutual benefit, and full respect for national sovereignty, Al-Rai daily reports.
It also aims to promote closer coordination between government entities, regulatory bodies, and private-sector institutions in both states.
Seven areas of cooperation in land transport
The MoU outlines joint efforts in the following fields:
- Developing and modernizing land and railway transport systems.
- Exploring opportunities to create logistics corridors and shared transit zones to support land and rail connectivity.
- Exchanging knowledge on legislation and policies governing road and rail sectors.
- Sharing information on best practices in freight and passenger transport.
- Encouraging joint investments in transport projects and advancing smart mobility technologies.
- Cooperating in integrating supply chains and logistics networks.
- Enhancing land transport services across both countries.
The following are five areas of cooperation in road asset management
The memorandum also includes collaboration in:
- Sharing best practices in managing road assets using smart monitoring and control systems.
- Reducing operational costs of road networks and related facilities through shared expertise.
- Applying environmental sustainability standards in road development projects.
- Holding reciprocal technical visits to study successful models and projects in each country.
- Cooperating in additional areas as mutually agreed upon.
