Major upgrades underway to advance Kuwait’s dental sector
A key milestone was the launch of the Jahra Specialized Center for Children’s Dental Treatment, comprising 52 clinics dedicated to providing comprehensive services for children from birth to 16 years; marking a major leap in pediatric dental care -- Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi

Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the infrastructure of dental clinics and centers, modernizing equipment, enhancing quality and accreditation systems, and expanding fellowship and specialized training programs to build a highly qualified professional workforce capable of keeping pace with global scientific and technological advances.
Speaking at the opening of the Second National Conference of the Kuwaiti Dental Association, which runs until Saturday with the participation of leading specialists from Kuwait and several Arab countries, Al-Awadhi emphasized the vital partnership between the Ministry of Health, the Kuwaiti Dental Association, and the private medical sector in advancing national health services, reports Al-Rai daily.
He noted that Kuwait’s dental sector has witnessed significant progress in recent years across preventive and therapeutic services, as well as in professional development programs aimed at raising the efficiency of national cadres. Improving service quality and meeting the needs of patients, he said, remains a core objective achieved through continuous planning, development, and collaborative efforts.
Al-Awadhi highlighted several recent achievements, including the transfer of school oral and dental health programs to direct management under the Ministry of Health as a national initiative, and the establishment of pharmacies in all specialized dental centers linked to central hospital pharmacies.
A key milestone, he said, was the launch of the Jahra Specialized Center for Children’s Dental Treatment, comprising 52 clinics dedicated to providing comprehensive services for children from birth to 16 years—marking a major leap in pediatric dental care.
Preparations are also underway for the opening of the Nasser Al-Saeed Specialized Center for Children’s Dental Treatment in the Capital Governorate, which will feature 48 state-of-the-art clinics.
The minister noted that 13 new integrated dental departments have recently been opened in primary healthcare centers across all governorates, along with 5 integrated departments in general and specialized hospitals.
Specialized dental clinics for individuals with special needs have also been established within all dental centers.
Additionally, he announced the expansion of the on-call dental emergency service operating during holidays and official breaks, with 13 new clinics opened across the governorates to enhance accessibility and emergency response.
