The conference has become a major annual scientific platform, uniting experts to discuss the latest developments in modern medicine related to the treatment and prevention of both benign and malignant blood disorders, particularly childhood diseases -- Dr. Al-Hasawi

The Ministry of Health, today, inaugurated the Third Kuwait Conference on Hematology, gathering leading hematologists, researchers, and specialists from Kuwait and abroad.

In a press release, the Ministry stated that Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs Dr. Al-Mundhir Al-Hasawi opened the event on behalf of Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi.

Dr. Al-Hasawi noted that the conference, organized by the Kuwaiti Association of Hematology, has become a major annual scientific platform, uniting experts to discuss the latest developments in modern medicine related to the treatment and prevention of both benign and malignant blood disorders, particularly childhood diseases.

He emphasized that the conference’s previous editions have strengthened its position as a distinguished venue for exchanging knowledge, research, and best clinical practices, helping elevate the quality of healthcare provided to patients.

Highlighting the global burden of blood diseases, Dr. Al-Hasawi said that conditions such as anemia, bleeding disorders, hereditary diseases, and blood cancers often remain unseen but profoundly affect patients’ lives.

He praised the Association’s efforts in organizing public awareness initiatives, specialized workshops, and training programs that enhance medical proficiency and improve patient care.

He added that the Ministry continues to adopt advanced medical practices, including modern therapies, precise diagnostic testing, early detection programs, and improved blood transfusion services.

Conference Chair Dr. Huda Al-Sahaf, Consultant of Internal Medicine and Clinical Hematology, said this year’s session builds on past achievements, focusing on new diagnostic and treatment breakthroughs, case-based scientific discussions, and enhanced collaboration across specialties. She highlighted the inclusion of interactive workshops designed to strengthen clinical decision-making and bridge theoretical and practical knowledge.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hadeel Saleh, President of the Hematology Association, affirmed that the event marks a new chapter in covering the full spectrum of benign and malignant blood diseases.

She stressed that treatment options continue to evolve rapidly and that Kuwait is keeping pace by providing advanced medications and staying aligned with the latest research. Special attention, she added, is given to pediatric blood diseases as a core societal priority.
