Health Minister highlights national efforts to boost awareness on World Diabetes Day

Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi said organizing health Awareness Day in conjunction with World Diabetes Day, which is observed annually on November 14, aligns with the Ministry’s strategy to enhance health education and ensure direct outreach to all segments of society.
In a press statement issued during the event which was held at The Avenues Mall under the title “Better Health with Diabetes” on Saturday, Dr. Al-Awadhi said the initiative saw wide participation from multiple ministry departments, reports Al-Rai daily.
These teams focused on raising health awareness among adults and children through diabetes and blood pressure screenings, as well as the distribution of medical devices and educational booklets.
Dr. Al-Awadhi noted that the awareness activities showcased exemplary coordination between doctors, nurses, technicians, administrative staff, and the public.
He emphasized that engaging people in interactive public spaces is a core part of the Ministry’s mission to promote prevention and curb disease progression, particularly among diabetic patients.
He added that the Surgery Department contributed by educating visitors about diabetic foot complications, while other departments offered nutritional counseling and information on available treatment options—efforts that collectively support preventive health and comprehensive care.
