‘16 million visits to primary health centers reflect public confidence in Kuwait’s healthcare system’

Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi said developing the country’s healthcare infrastructure remains a cornerstone of Kuwait’s progress and sustainable development, emphasizing that primary healthcare centers are the foundation of Kuwait’s health system.

In his opening remarks at the Seventh Kuwait Conference on Primary Health Care, held under the slogan “Care for all: A unified approach to primary health care,” Al-Awadhi highlighted the Ministry’s continued efforts to expand and modernize its network of health centers. The three-day conference, which began Wednesday, brings together experts and specialists from Kuwait and abroad.

Al-Awadhi revealed that Kuwait currently has 118 primary healthcare centers, with plans to continue expanding in new residential areas across the Jahra, Ahmadi, and Farwaniya governorates to meet the growing needs of the people and ensure access to high-quality services.

He noted that three centers are currently undergoing rehabilitation and reconstruction, while three new centers — Jaber Al-Ahmad (Block 4), West Abdullah Al-Mubarak (Block 6), and Kabd Health Center — will open soon. Several additional centers are also under construction and equipment installation.

The minister stated that 1,887 doctors from various specialties and more than 7,000 nursing, technical, pharmaceutical, and laboratory professionals currently serve in primary healthcare centers, forming an integrated care system. He added that the centers have recorded over 16 million visits in 2025, reflecting the strong trust citizens and residents place in Kuwait’s healthcare system.

For her part, Dr. Dina Al-Dhabib, Director of the Central Department of Primary Health Care and Head of the Conference, said the Ministry has prepared a comprehensive scientific program aligned with modern medical developments.

She noted that the conference aims to strengthen professional communication among healthcare workers through specialized workshops and expert-led sessions that enhance the efficiency and skills of practitioners.
