‘Gulf security integration is a strategic necessity’
Evolving nature of security threats requires the GCC countries to unify their visions and procedures, develop advanced field mechanisms, and invest in modern technologies and artificial intelligence to strengthen their security capabilities in line with the changing dynamics of crime -- Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, reaffirmed Kuwait’s steadfast belief that the security and stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries form a single, integrated system — where the security of one nation is inseparable from that of its neighbors, all united by a shared destiny and common purpose.
Speaking as chairman of the current session during the opening of the 42nd GCC Interior Ministers’ Meeting, held on Wednesday at Bayan Palace, Sheikh Fahd emphasized that the gathering takes place amid rapid global and regional transformations and growing challenges, making enhanced Gulf security cooperation and integration a strategic necessity.
He described joint Gulf security efforts as the region’s “impenetrable barrier” against threats ranging from terrorism and extremism to the scourge of drugs, which endanger the youth and the future of Gulf societies.
Sheikh Fahd called for continued collective action to combat drug trafficking through field coordination, information exchange, and unified awareness campaigns, as well as through efforts to confront organized crime, cybercrime, and money laundering.
He stressed that the evolving nature of security threats requires the GCC countries to unify their visions and procedures, develop advanced field mechanisms, and invest in modern technologies and artificial intelligence to strengthen their security capabilities in line with the changing dynamics of crime.
Sheikh Fahd further noted that the concept of security today extends beyond protecting borders and combating crime, encompassing a comprehensive approach that safeguards human awareness, thought, and social stability.
He highlighted the importance of building a conscious Gulf citizen as the cornerstone of sustainable security, by nurturing values of belonging, loyalty, and shared responsibility between citizens and security personnel, while enhancing public awareness of every individual’s role in safeguarding society and the nation.
Reaffirming Kuwait’s commitment to joint Gulf action, Sheikh Fahd stated that the country will continue to support all initiatives that strengthen the Gulf security system, stressing that integration is the key to achieving the comprehensive security that Gulf citizens and leaders aspire to.
He also praised the efforts of GCC Secretary-General Jassim Al-Budaiwi and the Assistant General Secretariat for Security Affairs for their dedication in following up on and implementing the decisions and recommendations issued during the meeting.
