Al-Mashari inspects South Saad Al-Abdullah housing project
Completion rate surpasses 49 percent, exceeds schedule by 21 percent

Minister of Municipality and Minister of State for Housing Affairs, Eng. Abdul Latif Al-Mashari, accompanied by the Acting Director-General of the Public Authority for Housing Welfare, Eng. Rashid Al-Anzi, conducted an inspection tour of the South Saad Al-Abdullah Housing City Project to review the latest developments in contracts and implementation progress.
During the visit, Minister Al-Mashari held a meeting with officials from the PAHW Implementation Sector following which he was briefed on the progress of various construction contracts.
He also viewed a detailed visual presentation outlining completion rates and the current status of works across different project stages, reports Al-Jarida daily.
The Housing Authority reported that four major infrastructure contracts are currently underway, the most significant being the main roads and infrastructure services contract, valued at approximately 345 million dinars.
This contract includes the construction of all main roads in the city, notably an 8-kilometer extension of the 6.5 Expressway within the project area.
According to PAHW, the overall completion rate has reached 49.16%, exceeding the contractual schedule by about 21.76%.
Major underground utility works—such as sewage, stormwater, and drainage networks—have been completed, along with 11 out of 29 vehicle bridges. Asphalt paving has commenced, and 130 buildings for electrical substations are under construction, alongside notable progress on the main water reservoirs.
The project also includes three infrastructure contracts serving 23,551 residential plots, with work advancing faster than planned.
Minister Al-Mashari’s field tour covered several key locations, including the city’s main rainwater reservoir. He expressed his appreciation to the engineers and teams for their dedicated efforts, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the current momentum while upholding contractual standards and quality.
He further highlighted the necessity of unifying technical requirements and procedures across contracts and consulting offices to prevent delays or overlapping efforts. Al-Mashari affirmed the ministry’s and the Authority’s full readiness to address any challenges that may arise during implementation to ensure the timely completion of the project.
