GTD issues 30,000 traffic citations; handles 1,900 accidents during first week of November

Statistics released by the Directorate-General of Traffic and the Emergency Police show during from November 1 to 8, approximately 29,900 traffic violations were recorded across the country, while the law enforcement authorities handled 1,892 traffic accidents, of these 1,694 accidents were handled by traffic officers and the emergency police 198.
The traffic patrols issued 26,818 citations for various reasons, while the emergency police issued 3,086, bringing the total number of citations issued to nearly 30,000 during the week. According to the report, 1,385 accidents resulted in only property damage.
Law enforcement campaigns also led to the arrest of 30 persons, whose residence permits had expired; 37 wanted by law, and the seizure of 18 vehicles sought by the courts.
Moreover, 340 vehicles and 28 motorcycles were impounded, and five persons who were found in possession with narcotics were referred to the Directorate-General for Drug Control, reports Al-Anba daily.
The emergency police units conducted additional operations, arresting 86 wanted people, impounding 28 vehicles sought by judicial authorities, and detaining 10 people for not holding identification documents.
They also dealt with three hit-and-run cases, one suspicious activity report, and 11 physical altercations.
Meanwhile, the Ahmadi Governorate Security Directorate carried out a large-scale security campaign across several areas as part of the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to uphold public order and arrest violators of residency and labor laws.
According to a statement by the Ministry, the campaign resulted in the issuance of 97 traffic citations, the arrest of eight street vendors and undocumented workers, two illegal residents, and one beggar, in addition to several individuals violating residency regulations.
The authorities also reported eight missing persons, arrested one individual in an abnormal condition found in possession of suspected drugs, and raided three makeshift markets in coordination with the Kuwait Municipality.
These intensified efforts reflect the Ministry of Interior’s continued commitment to enhancing road safety, reducing illegal activities, and preserving public security across all governorates of Kuwait.
