Spanish music, with all its passion, beauty, and history, is not just an art form; it is a universal language expressing the spirit and evolving identity of Spain. We are delighted to share this heritage with our friends in Kuwait – Ambassador Gamallo

Music has long been celebrated as a universal language, transcending borders and connecting people across cultures. It reflects the history, identity, and soul of a nation while inspiring emotion and fostering understanding among diverse communities.

From classical compositions to folk traditions, music serves as a timeless medium for cultural expression and dialogue, bringing people together to share in the beauty and heritage of human creativity and the Spanish Symphony Orchestra ‘Villa de Colmenar Viejo’ that performed at the Sheikh Jaber Cultural Center was as exceptional an evening that will be long remembered and cherished.

The Spanish Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Hernández Gamallo emphasized that music is one of the most profound and beautiful expressions of Spanish identity, saying Spain’s musical heritage spans centuries and reflects the country’s rich cultural and artistic diversity. However, he added, much of this heritage remains little known outside Spain.

He was speaking at an evening organized by the Spanish Embassy at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, and performed by orquesta sinfonica Villa de Colmenar Viejo, the ambassador said the concert offered the music enthusiasts a glimpse into Spain’s unique musical legacy.

The program featured selected pieces representing different schools of Spanish creativity, showcasing the excellence of both opera and folk music, blending deep emotion with vibrant energy.

The ambassador also highlighted the performance of Spanish Zarzuela, a lively form of musical theater combining singing, acting, and instrumental music. He noted that all the pieces performed carried an authentic Spanish character rooted in traditional opera and folk traditions, reflecting the depth and geographical diversity of Spain’s cultural identity.

Ambassador Gamallo added that the orchestra’s performance in Kuwait serves as a bridge for cultural exchange between Spain and Kuwait, expressing delight at the strong turnout, which included music lovers, ambassadors, diplomats, and cultural figures.

The Spanish envoy thanked Dr Mohamad Aljassar and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters for their ongoing support of joint cultural activities, and expressed gratitude to the teams at the cultural center and embassy for organizing what he described as “a night of musical inspiration celebrating the depth of Spanish-Kuwaiti friendship.”

He concluded his remarks by saying: “Spanish music, with all its passion, beauty, and history, is not just an art form; it is a universal language expressing the spirit and evolving identity of Spain. We are delighted to share this heritage with our friends in Kuwait.”
