Professor Dr. Mohammed Zubaid, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Heart Association, revealed that a study on patients who suffered acute heart attacks in Kuwaiti hospitals found approximately 10,200 cases over a year and a half. Among these patients, 65% had high blood pressure and 55% were diabetic.

Dr. Zubaid was speaking at the Cardiology Updates Conference and Cardiometabolic Summit, organized by the Cardiology Department at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital in collaboration with the Kuwait Heart Association, reports Al-Rai daily.

Dr. Abdullah Ismail, conference chairman and consultant cardiologist, emphasized the event’s goal of integrating cardiology and metabolic specialties and showcasing the latest treatment guidelines and technologies.

The third edition of the conference focused on cardiometabolic syndrome, which arises from a combination of factors such as high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, and high cholesterol, affecting the heart, kidneys, and liver.

He highlighted that treatments include lifestyle modifications, medications, and surgical interventions, including modern catheterization techniques.

The conference featured sessions on hypertension, obesity, and diabetes, discussing pharmaceutical, surgical, and endoscopic innovations.

Dr. Fahad Al-Hajri, also a conference chairman, noted the inclusion of specialties such as bariatric surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and internal medicine to promote knowledge exchange and enhance patient care.

The conference reflects the Kuwaiti medical community’s commitment to staff development, continuing education, and the delivery of high-quality care.
