MOH processed 3.1 million samples for 7.6 million laboratory tests in 2025

The Ministry of Health announced that hematology laboratories across public hospitals and specialized centers in Kuwait have received 3.1 million laboratory samples, resulting in 7.6 million tests conducted during 2025, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to enhancing diagnostic accuracy and healthcare quality.

Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi affirmed that the ministry continues to make steady progress in developing its medical laboratory system, keeping pace with the latest scientific advancements in diagnostic and precision medicine, reports Al-Rai daily.

He noted that the ministry’s comprehensive development strategies aim to ensure both test accuracy and the highest quality of healthcare for citizens and residents.

Speaking at the opening of the 7th Medical Laboratories Conference yesterday, Dr. Al-Awadhi highlighted the transformative changes in healthcare in recent years, particularly with the integration of precision medicine and genetic diagnostic technologies.

These developments, he said, allow for personalized treatment based on each patient’s genetic, environmental, and lifestyle characteristics.

He added that the ministry has translated this vision into action by modernizing and expanding its network of laboratories and equipping them with state-of-the-art technologies and equipment. He also underscored the central role of hematology laboratories in detecting various blood disorders — including genetic, immune, and cancerous diseases — and emphasized the importance of training technical personnel and maintaining high quality standards to ensure reliable results and faster treatment interventions.

For her part, Dr. Ibtisam Juma, Chair of the Medical Laboratory Departments Council at the Ministry of Health, said Kuwait has become a regional model in modern laboratory medicine, thanks to its adoption of cutting-edge technologies, enhanced diagnostic performance, and significant improvements in speed and accuracy.

She noted that Kuwait’s hematology laboratories have achieved both quantitative and qualitative milestones, with 67 physicians, including 13 consultants, overseeing test quality.

Since the beginning of 2025, hospitals and specialized centers have processed 3.1 million samples, leading to more than 7.6 million blood tests, while primary healthcare centers completed over 712,000 additional tests—a reflection of the system’s growing efficiency and reliability.
