Market represents a strategic initiative to organize and modernize the vehicle trading environment opening new investment opportunities for the private sector and contributing to the growth and regulation of Kuwait’s automotive trade sector.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that a coordination meeting was held on Sunday at the office of Minister Khalifa Al-Ajeel, bringing together Minister of Municipality Abdullatif Al-Mishari, representatives from the Public-Private Partnership Projects Authority, and consulting firms involved in designing and implementing the Al-Salmi Vehicle Auction Market Project.

The ministry stated that the meeting aimed to revitalize the project and restore it to its proper implementation path after a period of inactivity. Discussions focused on the project’s components, implementation plan, and preliminary facility designs to ensure accelerated progress and effective coordination among all concerned entities within the public-private partnership framework, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to the ministry, the project will span an area of 500,000 square meters along Al-Salmi Road, opposite the Low-Cost Housing Project and approximately 10 minutes from Jahra City.

Once completed, it will become the largest used vehicle sales hub in the region, featuring showrooms for used and new cars (including agency vehicles), car trading offices, government service centers, and support facilities related to the automotive sector.

The ministry added that the current phase witnessed the signing of a consulting contract in February 2025 with a consortium of local firms to prepare financial, engineering, legal, and environmental feasibility studies in line with Partnership Law No. 116 of 2014 and its executive regulations.

Minister Khalifa Al-Ajeel emphasized that the Al-Salmi Vehicle Auction Market represents a strategic initiative to organize and modernize the vehicle trading environment.

He affirmed that the Ministry, in coordination with the Partnership Authority, is working to accelerate implementation phases, set clear completion timelines, and enhance transparency—opening new investment opportunities for the private sector and contributing to the growth and regulation of Kuwait’s automotive trade sector.
