Two Defense Ministry employees arrested for committing violent robbery in Hawalli

The Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday that the Criminal Investigation Department has arrested two citizens working for the Ministry of Defense on charges of committing a violent robbery in Hawalli Governorate.
In a statement, the Ministry explained that the arrests were part of its ongoing efforts to combat crime and arrest offenders.
The arrests came after the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received a report from an Asian man who stated that he had been attacked and robbed by two unidentified persons — one assaulted him while the other stole his belongings and fled, reports Al-Rai daily.
Following the report, the Hawalli Investigations Department (Salmiya Investigations Office) immediately launched an inquiry, gathering surveillance footage and evidence that led to identifying the suspects.
Both suspects, employees of the Ministry of Defense, were tracked using modern technology and subsequently arrested.
During interrogation, both admitted to committing the crime. Police also found with the men narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The Ministry confirmed that legal action has been initiated, and the men, along with the seized items, have been referred to the competent authorities.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to upholding public safety and enforcing the law without exception, stressing that it will continue to pursue anyone who threatens the nation’s security or the well-being of its citizens and residents.
