Kuwait to host first Gulf Red Crescent Conference on Artificial Intelligence

The Kuwait Red Crescent Society announced that the State of Kuwait will host the first Gulf Red Crescent Conference on Artificial Intelligence on October 22, marking a pioneering step toward establishing a unified Gulf vision for integrating AI in humanitarian work. The initiative is expected to enhance Kuwait’s position as a leading hub for humanitarian innovation and regional cooperation.

Khaled Al-Mughamis, Chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Saturday that the conference, under the theme “Towards New Horizons in Humanitarian Work and Development Media – Investing in the Power of Artificial Intelligence,” is organized in cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) General Secretariat and will run from October 22 to 23 at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Al-Mughamis noted that the event coincides with Gulf Red Crescent Day, observed annually on October 23, and will feature experts and specialists from GCC countries and beyond, alongside representatives of international humanitarian organizations.

The chairman highlighted that the conference reflects the association’s commitment to leveraging modern technological advancements, particularly artificial intelligence, to enhance humanitarian work and development media.

  • The agenda includes key sessions on:

AI applications in collecting and analyzing humanitarian data

  • Early prediction and rapid response in crises
  • Data challenges in humanitarian operations
  • Ethical and legal considerations in AI-assisted relief work
  • Experiences of Gulf national societies in deploying AI in humanitarian programs
  • Initiatives using AI for health, environmental, and social awareness campaigns

In addition, the conference will feature the launch of a Gulf digital initiative, a workshop for training media professionals in humanitarian and relief reporting, covering topics such as crisis media coverage, field safety, ethics in media work, and training in digital humanitarian content production and effective documentation.

This event underscores Kuwait’s role in promoting innovation-driven humanitarian practices and strengthening collaborative efforts across the Gulf region.
