Officials in the U.S. administration are privately discussing the possibility of arranging a meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during Trump’s planned visit to Asia next month.
According to the CNN network, no logistical preparations or direct contacts with Pyongyang have yet been initiated, and discussions remain at an early, informal stage, say informed sources,
The report added that North Korea had previously rejected Trump’s outreach efforts earlier this year.
In August, Trump had expressed his interest in meeting Kim Jong Un once again, following his first official meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung at the White House.
