Hamas publishes names of 20 Israeli prisoners to be freed under Gaza ceasefire deal

The deal, a key element of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, marks a major step toward ending over two years of deadly conflict that has left much of Gaza in ruins and caused tens of thousands of casualties.

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, has released the names of 20 living Israeli prisoners who are set to be freed as part of a prisoner exchange agreement under the recently announced ceasefire in Gaza.

According to the list published by the group, the prisoners include — Baar Avraham Kuperstein, Evitar David, Yosef Haim Ohana, Segev Kalfon, Avinatan Or, Elkana Bohbot, Maxim Herkin, Nimrod Cohen, Matan Tsengauker, David Konio, Eitan Horn, Matan Angrist, Eitan Mor, Gali Berman, Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, Alon Ohel, Guy Gilboa-Dallal, Rom Braslavsky, Ariel Konio, and David Konio.

These individuals are among a total of 48 hostages — both living and deceased — who have been held by Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip since the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, reports Al-Rai daily.

The announcement follows reports that Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention facilities have begun boarding buses ahead of their anticipated release, as part of the exchange agreement brokered through international mediation and endorsed at the ongoing peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

The deal, a key element of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, marks a major step toward ending over two years of deadly conflict that has left much of Gaza in ruins and caused tens of thousands of casualties.

In parallel with the exchange, Britain has pledged $27 million to support the reconstruction of Gaza, while other world powers, including the United States and Germany, have committed to coordinating humanitarian and rebuilding efforts in the war-torn enclave.

The prisoner release process is expected to unfold under close international supervision, with humanitarian agencies and mediators monitoring compliance from both sides to ensure the successful implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
