Municipality rearranges spring camping sites; three canceled, two created on Kabd Road

  • The annual spring camping season is a popular tradition in Kuwait, attracting thousands of families and youth each year. With these new adjustments, the Municipality aims to ensure a safe, organized, and enjoyable experience for all campers while coordinating closely with security and environmental authorities.

Faisal Al-Otaibi, head of the Kuwait Municipality’s Spring Camps Committee, announced key changes to the upcoming camping season, including the modification of one existing site and the establishment of two new ones. He also confirmed the permanent cancellation of three previously approved locations.

Al-Otaibi told Al-Rai that the committee decided to modify the Hajj Rest House site, while permanently canceling the camping areas in Umm Al-Hayman, Al-Naeem, and the Seventh Ring Road linked to Road 6.5. In their place, two new camping sites will be created along the Kabd Road to accommodate public demand and ensure safety.

He explained that the amendments were made following requests from the Ministries of Defense and Oil, citing security and safety reasons, including the proximity of some canceled sites to military installations and the presence of oil wells.

The committee is scheduled to hold a meeting next Sunday to approve the final list of sites and forward them to the relevant municipal branches across governorates. These branches will then begin preparing and cleaning the sites and providing waste containers. The approvals and site maps will also be circulated to all concerned ministries and authorities.

Al-Otaibi reassured the public that there are no plans to increase camping fees or insurance costs for the upcoming season. He confirmed that the camping season will begin as scheduled on November 15, while monitoring any new developments that may arise.

He also emphasized that “kashta” camping, which refers to short-term or day-use outings, remains exempt from fees, as it is considered temporary and does not fall under the same regulations as seasonal camps.
