‘Those who falsely register children in their file will lose Kuwaiti citizenship’
The proposed amendments aim to establish strong legal system, strict procedures to prevent any future manipulation or falsification of citizenship

- Under the proposed changes, citizenship will be withdrawn from anyone proven to have falsely added children to their nationality file. The punishment would apply to both the original Kuwaiti citizens by inception and naturalized citizens who committed forgery, with the revocation extending to all those who obtained citizenship through the fraudulent claim, including their children and grandchildren.
- The sources emphasized that forgery of citizenship files, whether through false documents, fabricated family links, adding names to inheritance records of deceased individuals without heirs, or exploiting administrative loopholes, represents a serious crime against the nation. Such acts, they warned, carry grave security and social risks that threaten the very foundation of Kuwait’s identity and social cohesion.
As the Supreme Committee for the Acquisition of Kuwaiti Nationality, chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, intensifies its efforts to protect national identity and uncover cases of forged citizenship, informed sources say major amendments to the Kuwaiti Nationality Law are in the pipeline.
The changes are part of a comprehensive plan to reform the legal framework and strengthen national and social security against any attempts to manipulate or exploit the concept of Kuwaiti identity.
According to the sources, one of the key proposed amendments is the revocation of citizenship from any Kuwaiti who registers a false child — that is, a child who is not biologically his own — in his citizenship file.
This measure aims to curb practices that undermine the integrity of Kuwait’s legal and social systems and address increasing cases of identity theft.
The sources explained that this amendment was prompted by a surge in citizenship forgery cases, reflecting what they described as a disturbing disregard for national responsibility and a reckless disregard for the sanctity of lineage and identity.
Such actions, sources said, violate both Sharia and national law.
