Kuwait Cricket kicked off their preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia-EAP Qualifiers in style, securing a hard-fought three-wicket victory over hosts Oman in the official warm-up match at the Oman Cricket Academy.
Bowling first, Kuwait showed excellent discipline to restrict Oman to 129/8 in 20 overs. After a fiery start from Hasnain Wahab (27 off 16), the bowlers pulled things back with regular breakthroughs. Anudeep Chenthamara was the standout performer, finishing with 3/31, while Naveenraj Rajendran (2/12) and Shiraz Shereef (1/16) kept the run rate under control with tight spells. The bowling unit’s collective effort ensured Oman never built big partnerships.

In reply, Kuwait’s chase had its tense moments, but the batting depth shone through. Contributions came across the order with Clinto Anto (15), Ravija Sandaruwan (18), and Bilal (21 off 21) laying the platform. After slipping to 88/6, Kuwait’s lower order rose to the occasion. Shiraz Shereef struck a vital 15 from 10 balls, before Mohamed Aslam Nawfar produced a match-winning cameo — smashing an unbeaten 18 off just 7 balls to take Kuwait over the line in 18.5 overs.
Despite Oman’s fightback led by Jitenkumar Ramanandi (3/14) and Sufiyan Mahmood (2/24), Kuwait’s composure under pressure and attacking finish proved decisive.
The victory not only highlights Kuwait’s all-round strength but also builds momentum and confidence as the team looks ahead to the Asia-EAP Qualifiers in Oman.
