KU launches ‘GPA Raising Students’ application program for 2023/2024

The Admissions and Registration Deanship at Kuwait University has officially launched the application process for the “GPA Raising Students” program for the academic year 2023/2024, in accordance with Public Universities Law No. 76.

The application period extends until Monday, May 13. Eligibility criteria for reinstating previously expelled students due to a low grade point average are outlined in the announcement. It specifies that the dismissal should align with the issuance date of Law No. 76 of 2019 regarding public universities, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Moreover, dismissal reasons include exceeding the permitted number of warnings for the general average, surpassing the normal graduation period due to warnings, and maintaining a general average below 70 percent.

Expelled students seeking reinstatement are required to submit a request expressing their intention to continue studying at their own expense under the GPA student system within 60 days from the implementation of the specified criteria. The university will allocate courses for the reinstated student based on spatial capacity.

For current students at Kuwait University, course registration through the “BayForce” system is now open until the end of the month. Students enrolled under the GPA-raising system must fulfill the conditions for GPA improvement within one university year, with a maximum limit of one semester for dropout. Failure to adhere to this timeframe renders the student ineligible for further enrollment.

In addition, for continuing students with 12 academic units and less, the period for finalizing study schedules on BayForce has commenced and will last until the end of the month.

However, concerns have been raised by students regarding the limited registration units set at 14 study units, which may complicate the process of adding and withdrawing courses. Many students are urging the Admissions and Registration Deanship to expand course offerings and ensure the availability of required materials for graduation, as certain courses were not accessible during the registration periods.
