Lexus reinvents the sports sedan with the all-new IS

Powering the ultimate driver’s dialogue, Lexus has world-premiered the all-new IS, a vehicle born from an unwavering pursuit of driving exhilaration and a direct connection between driver and car. Its aggressive, sportier design reflects this philosophy, while the enhanced Lexus Safety System+ and next-generation multimedia system provide advanced safety and peace of mind.

Since its debut in 1999, the IS has embodied the essence of driving enjoyment as a compact FR sports sedan. Over the years, it has become a hallmark of the Lexus driving experience, praised for its dynamic performance, bold design, and sporty appeal. With cumulative sales of around 1.3 million units across 40 countries and regions, the IS has resonated with drivers worldwide for more than 25 years. Its development has involved rigorous testing in key locations globally to perfect the distinctive performance feel known as the “Lexus Driving Signature.”

The latest update introduces two variants: the IS 300h and IS 350. Guided by the theme “Refinement in Performance and Design,” the new IS enhances the qualities it has long pursued: an engaging driving experience fostering a dialogue with the car, combined with an aggressive, sporty exterior. The new model is set to launch in various markets starting early 2026.

Key features of the all-new Lexus IS include refined performance that strengthens the dialogue between driver and car, an exterior that amplifies the IS’s signature aggressive design, a driver-focused interior with the latest multimedia system, and enhanced features for safer, more comfortable driving.

Yasushi Muto, Lexus International Chief Engineer, explained, “In refining the IS, our focus was achieving true dialogue between car and driver, where the driver’s intentions are faithfully conveyed and the car’s responses clearly felt. Guided by this ideal, we pursued development without compromise. Building on the IS’s distinctive ride comfort and exceptional vehicle control, the model has evolved to deliver an even more engaging experience from within the cabin, bringing drivers closer to the car than ever before.”
