Ministry of Health establishes gynecological oncology unit at KCCC

The Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday the establishment of a Gynecological Oncology Unit at the Kuwait Cancer Control Center in the Al-Sabah Specialized Medical District.
The initiative is part of the Ministry’s strategic plan to expand specialized care services and enhance the overall quality of healthcare in the country.
In a statement, the Ministry emphasized that the new unit is seen as a vital step in improving diagnostic, treatment, and preventive services for gynecological cancers. The move is expected to have a direct positive impact on women’s healthcare, providing more advanced and specialized care.
The Ministry highlighted that the creation of the unit aligns with its broader vision to advance women’s health in line with the latest international medical standards. By doing so, it aims to prevent complications, improve patient quality of life, and strengthen Kuwait’s regional leadership in the field of gynecological oncology.
Gynecological oncology specialist Dr. Noura Al-Ibrahim has been appointed head of the unit. This appointment reflects the Ministry’s commitment to empowering national medical talent and promoting qualified specialists to leadership roles that contribute to the development of health services.
Dr. Al-Ibrahim noted that the unit is a significant addition to the progress made in women’s healthcare in Kuwait. She emphasized that its location within the Kuwait Cancer Control Center, alongside comprehensive services and supporting specialties, will ensure patients receive integrated, continuous care.
She further explained that clear referral mechanisms will be implemented to enable patients to access required services quickly and efficiently. Dr. Al-Ibrahim expressed her gratitude for the ongoing support of Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi and Undersecretary Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, whose guidance has been instrumental in overcoming challenges during the unit’s establishment.
