The discussions between the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and Housing Care Foundation are focused on the timetable for meeting the electricity and water needs of the planned Nawaf Al-Ahmad, Al-Sabriya, and Al-Khairan cities.

• The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy will launch its annual maintenance program next week, removing the first units as scheduled and aiming to complete maximum maintenance before April to secure adequate summer electricity supply.

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy will launch its annual maintenance program for power generation units and water plants early next week in preparation for the summer season. At the same time, the ministry is coordinating with the Housing Care Foundation to address the electricity requirements of new residential cities.

Sources told Al Rai newspaper that discussions are focused on the timetable for meeting the electricity and water needs of the planned Nawaf Al-Ahmad, Al-Sabriya, and Al-Khairan cities.

Sources stated that the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy will begin removing its first units for maintenance according to a set schedule, stressing its commitment to completing the largest possible number before next April to ensure sufficient capacity to meet the country’s electricity needs.

They added that the ministry has prepared a plan to carry out maintenance smoothly, including an agreement with the Gulf Interconnection Network to purchase 900 megawatts during the maintenance period. This will allow more units to undergo both radical and preventive maintenance as planned.

The sources emphasized that the ministry is relying on the readiness of production units to meet the challenges of next summer, with thorough maintenance aimed at avoiding recurring shutdowns, particularly in aging units long slated for decommissioning. Measures adopted this summer, they noted, had already eased shortages and will support further solutions underway.
