Kuwait rubbishes reports of FIFA suspension, calls it baseless rumors

A government source has categorically denied rumors circulating on social media claiming that FIFA, the world football body, had threatened to suspend Kuwait over provisions in the new sports law.

The source clarified that the draft law had been submitted in advance to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which officially approved it on July 9, which confirms without doubt, that it does not conflict with the Olympic Charter or the regulations of international federations.

According to the source, the only feedback received was technicality in the wording, which was addressed and resolved in line with established procedures. It is noteworthy to mention here that no substantive objections were raised regarding any articles or provisions that could contradict international law.

The source reaffirmed that the government is committed to aligning Kuwait’s sports legislation with global standards, ensuring compliance, and supporting the continued development of national sports.

The source urged the public to rely on official statements rather than running after unverified reports spreading on social media.
