Minister Al-Mutairi oversees preparations for 48th Kuwait International Book Fair

Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi chaired the first meeting of the Higher Organizing Committee for the 48th edition of the Kuwait International Book Fair, set to take place from November 19 to 29 under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah.
Held at the Ministry of Information headquarters, the meeting focused on reviewing the key preparations and logistical arrangements for the fair, with the aim of showcasing Kuwait’s prominent cultural status and aligning the event with global advancements in the fields of knowledge, publishing, and media.
Minister Al-Mutairi emphasized the importance of curating a vibrant and meaningful cultural program to accompany the book fair. The committee reviewed several ideas intended to enrich the public’s experience, including interactive events and knowledge-based activities designed to make the fair both informative and engaging, reports Al-Rai daily.
Among the major initiatives discussed was the Young Authors Pavilion, a new concept reflecting the commitment of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters to nurture youth talent.
The pavilion is expected to support young writers and children by providing them with platforms to express their creativity and expand their literary skills, as part of a broader effort to invest in the country’s cultural and intellectual future.
The committee also evaluated the media and marketing strategy for the fair, along with the administrative and financial procedures necessary for its organization. Officials stressed the importance of a well-coordinated promotional campaign to attract local, regional, and international audiences, and to ensure wide participation from publishing houses, authors, and cultural institutions.
This year’s edition will feature the Sultanate of Oman as the Guest of Honor, a choice that aims to highlight the richness of Omani culture, literature, and heritage. Additionally, the fair will serve as a platform to celebrate Kuwait’s designation as the Arab Capital of Culture and Media for 2025, with events planned to reflect this prestigious title.
